WALKING DEAD ARE WELCOME FOR THE ‘SNEAK PEEK’ PARTY, SEPT. 28TH!
The inaugural Zombie ‘Sneak Peek’ Party at Maris Farms – a pre-season event that is to die for – is slated for Sept. 28th, at the rural farm between Bonney Lake and Buckley. It has replaced the Zombie Fun Run, which event organizers felt was scheduled much too late to organize and promote properly, let alone compete with the number of other running event options available to people. The Zombie ‘Sneak Peak’ Party is an opportunity for the south sound’s growing zombie population to gather and enjoy some food, drink and a sneak peak of the farm’s Harvest of Terror attractions during their dress rehearsal performances. You can check out details by clicking here. The Harvest of Terror is a pair of devilish terror featuring a zombie thrill-kill attraction called The Monster Safari and a creepy walk through the corn and forest called The Haunted Woods.

PIG RACES: Maris Farms, KMPS and several other partners helping ‘raise some bacon’ for St. Jude’s with their racing pigs
Maris Farms and several other sponsors are teaming up again to help raise money in St. Jude’s tireless cause to find a cure for cancer with a matching fund donation during the 2013 Triple Pig Crown racing series.
We head into our sixth season hosting what has now become one of the most popular attractions at Maris Farms. The season-long series is derived from horse racing’s Triple Crown and is intended to help raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. More than $17,000 has been raised for cancer-research hospital through this month long event since it started in 2008.
On a small round track near the animal barn, several races will again occur during the course of a weekend day and fans will often cheer for their favorites – like they did with Jimmy FalLOIN, Arnold SchwartzenHOGGER and David LetterHAM in 2012 – as they burn a little bacon around the 50-meter race track.
In addition to the normal weekend races, there will be three marquee races – The PIGtucky Derby (Oct. 12th, 2 pm), The BOARmont Stakes (Oct. 19th, 2 pm) and The SQUEAKness (Oct. 26th, 2 pm).
Race fans place mock bets during the weekend races on the pig(s) they feel will win, and that money is donated to St. Jude. In return, each “betting” fan receives a complimentary pig nose and if the pig they bet on wins, they are automatically entered into a drawing for additional prizes. Other participating “pig” partners include Anytime Fitness, Westside Pizza, Wal-Mart, Spirit Halloween Stores, Smith Brothers Farms, American Thunder Monster Truck and Sweet Kettle Corn – all of whom are contributing either prizes or funds for this special cause.
